What to consider when choosing a fabric

When choosing your fabric you should consider the following:

Acoustics - Fabrics with an open weave are best suited to acoustic applications as they allow sound to pass through the fabric to be absorbed by the acoustic infill.

Silks – Silks are a naturally unstable fabric and are prone to being affected by changes in room temperature and humidity. These changes can cause the silk to relax which creates a ‘puddling’ affect on the fabric.

This can be rectified by restretching; however, it is best to provide a knit backing process to help stabilise the silk.

Leather and Suede – It is possible to use leather and suede with our FabriTrak® system and we have installed several upholstered walls in high-end apartments and hotels using leather and suede.

Patterned fabric – Accurate pattern-matching can be achieved with FabriTrak®  by using a suitable profile to ensure a crisp joint.

We would advise clients to submit fabric samples to us for approval prior to installation.
